WoW uses ports 3724 and 6112 to add files to your World of Warcraft folder on your hard drive. To configure these ports for Windows XP, follow these steps

  • Click on the start button from your desktop

  • Click on the control panel.

  • If you are using the category view for your control panel you will need to double click on the security center option. If you use the classic view of the control panel then skip this step.

  • Double click on Windows firewall.

  • The general tab, at the top of the box, should be the default tab when the firewall settings open. If not then click the general tab now.

  • Make sure that the button is clicked that says On (recommended).

  • Click the tab labeled exceptions and click the add port button at the bottom of the box.

  • In the box marked name, type BLIZZARD DOWNLOADER.
