A BCA student told the Dean: The application was not accepted when placed in the Faculty of Humanities, an initiative had to be taken

After Tribhuvan University’s Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) course was placed under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the students approached the Dean’s office after they were not approved to apply for the post of Government Information Technology Officer.

On Thursday, BCA students reached the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty and demanded that the application submitted for the post of Information Technology Officer was not accepted and they demanded to take initiatives for recognition like other IT courses.

The students have requested the Dean’s Office to take the necessary steps for recognition like other IT courses (Public Service Commission, Banking Institutions, Information Officer of Nepal Police, Information Officer of Nepal Army, Information Officer of Nepal Telecom etc.).

Even though there are similar courses like Trivika BSc CSIT, BIT, Pokhara University, and Purvanchal University BCA, various institutions advertise that they should have passed the Assistant Director III (Information Technology) degree in IT, Computer Engineer or similar computer subjects. However, the students complained that the application was not approved because the BCA was under the faculty of humanities and social sciences of the university.

Apart from this, students must publish the academic calendar of every semester, the BCA academic calendar should clearly state the date of each batch examination in month and week, and the result should be published within 90 days of the end of the semester examination of any batch, the result of 8th semester should be published within 5 days. They have demanded that necessary precautions should be taken for running the MCA course.

The students have warned that if the above-mentioned demands are not met within 7 days, they will start a phased protest.
