It starts at Rs. 64,999 for the 8/128GB variant and is a one-of-a-kind smartphone in Nepal. Why? Because it is the only phone with a Snapdragon 888 chipset under Rs. 70,000.

Is this the affordable flagship monster that we have been waiting for? Well, you will find out in this review of the Mi 11X Pro.

120Hz Super AMOLED Display

  • 6.67 inches Super AMOLED
  • 1080 x 2400 pixels
  • 120Hz
  • HDR10+
  • 1300 nits (peak)

Mi 11X Pro Display

The Super AMOLED panel provides top-notch viewing angles with vibrant colors. Along with that, the panel is super bright even outdoors. Said that it still falls short of being a flagship AMOLED panel interms of sheer display quality.

But it surely provides a flagship feeling with the help of high refresh rate smoothness. The 120Hz refresh rate provides fluid animations while scrolling and using the apps. It is optimized for most of the apps except Google News.

Though it doesn’t have Adaptive Refresh Rate option, the refresh rate drops down to 60Hz while playing videos and games.

A good high refresh rate implementation and crisp FHD AMOLED panel make up for a brilliant display experience.

Flagship Design

  • 163.7 x 76.4 x 7.8 mm
  • 196 g
  • Gorilla Glass 5 (rear)
  • IP53 dust and splash protection
  • Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)

Mi 11X Pro ReviewMi 11X Pro Design

Mi 11X Pro gets a flagship design inspired by the Mi 11. The glass back is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and it also has IP53 dust/water resistance.

The rear panel has a matte finish but the surface can easily pick up smudges. Also, the gradient effect on the celestial silver variant looks really cool.

It clearly looks like a flagship phone with awesome design.

Mi 11X Pro is a big phone but it is pretty thin at just 7.8mm. However, it does have a big camera bump on the rear. On the front, the hole punch on the middle is minimal and doesn’t affect the viewing experience. Plus, the bezels are what we expect from a flagship smartphone.

Like most of the new phones, Mi 11X Pro has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button. But it does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD card slot.

Promising Camera

  • Rear Camera: 108 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.52″, 0.7µm, PDAF
    • 8 MP, f/2.2, 119˚ (ultrawide)
    • 5 MP, f/2.4, 50mm (macro), 1/5.0″, 1.12µm
    • Video: [email protected], [email protected]/60fps, [email protected]/ 60/120/240 / 960fps, gyro-EIS, HDR10 +
  • Front Camera: 20 MP, f/2.5, (wide), 1/3.4″, 0.8µm

Mi 11X Pro ReviewMi 11X Pro Camera

Mi 11X Pro has a triple camera setup. There’s a 108MP Samsung HM2 main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 5MP macro sensor.

108MP MAIN SENSOR

The 108MP sensor captures 12MP images by default with plenty of details. The color profile is saturated and the contrast is good as well. While it is not up to the flagship level, the dynamic range is pretty wide and noise is non-existent.

But the 108MP photos are not worth the storage space it uses. It does provide a boost in detail level but the 12MP photos look much better overall.

While it is impressive at daylight situation, Mi 11X Pro doesn’t produce the best images in low-light scenarios.

The dynamic range and detail take a hit but it does a good job of preserving the colors. Also, the noise is on the lower side. With the ‘Night Mode’, the pictures get a boost in detail but increases the noise. While the noise is not welcome, the picture looks brighter and sharper with Night mode. So, you should capture with Night mode in low light conditions most of the time.

ULTRAWIDE ANGLE CAMERA

The 8MP Ultra wide-angle camera is good but certainly not the best for the price. The photos look good with sharp textures and the dynamic range is pretty wide.

The color reproduction is not as saturated as the main sensor and the contrast is not as good as the main sensor. Also, its 119˚ FOV is not as wide as I expected. Cheaper phones like A52 and A72 do a much better job with the ultrawide angle sensor.

PORTRAIT AND MACRO MODE

Mi 11X Pro has a 5MP macro sensor. Talking about the macro photos, they are good enough given the price. The detail and colors are above average. It has to be one of the good macro sensors at this price.

Now, it is surprising that Mi 11X Pro doesn’t include a depth sensor. But, I really don’t mind as the portraits from Mi 11X Pro are pretty good. The edge detection is really good and the background blur is also convincing. On top of that, HDR also helps in controlling the highlights. The portraits do look a bit oversaturated though.

FRONT CAMERA

Now on to the front camera, the 20MP sensor takes impressive photos with a good amount of detail.

Photos have good detail in well-lit conditions with impressive dynamic range.

Furthermore, HDR helps to control the backlight but the background may turn out washed out in tough conditions.

The portrait mode on the front camera is also surprisingly good. It works well most of the time and has good edge detection. But, it is certainly not as good as the portraits from the rear camera.

Video

Mi 11X Pro is capable of capturing up to 8k 30fps. But, the 8K is not really practical at this moment. The 4k 60fps footages have good detail and the dynamic range is also wide. However, the ultrawide sensor cannot capture at 4k resolution.

Moving on to 1080p footage, there is a quality drop in terms of detail but it is acceptable. Also, EIS works really well in 1080p for smooth and stabilized videos. But, I did not like the videos from the ultrawide angle sensor. The FOV is not really wide and the detail is not good either.

Unbeatable Performance

  • Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888 (5 nm)
  • Octa-core (1 × 2.84 GHz Kryo 680 & 3 × 2.42 GHz Kryo 680 & 4 × 1.80 GHz Kryo 680)
  • Adreno 660
  • 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM, UFS 3.1

Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro is simply the best gaming phone for the price.

Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset along with 8GB RAM provides splendid performance.

With the help of Snapdragon 888, Mi 11X Pro delivers a true flagship experience. The phone sails through basic tasks like navigation and opening apps. Running multiple apps is not a problem either. What more? The gaming experience is also really good.

Mi 11X Pro runs games at maximum setting without breaking a sweat. COD Mobile runs on max settings with an ultra-smooth frame rate. Likewise, you can play PUBG on HDR graphics and extreme fps with consistent 60fps. Or you can take it up a notch by playing at Ultra graphics setting with 4k textures.

While it is not a gaming phone, MI 11X Pro can handle gaming like a champ without any heating issues. The phone does get warm but it never exceeded 49° celsius.

Battery and Charging

  • Non-removable Li-Po 4520mAh battery
  • Fast charging 33W
  • Power Delivery 3.0, Quick Charge 3+

The 4520mAh battery on the 11X Pro provides average endurance when used in high refresh rate mode. It provides modest 5 hours of screen on time on moderate usage.

Moving on, the included 33W fast charger takes around 55 mins to fully charge the battery from 0%.

Speaker and Security

Mi 11X Pro features a dual stereo speaker setup that delivers very good sound quality. The loudness is more than enough to fill a medium-sized room and the sound quality is good. The highs are not the best but it is decent overall.

In terms of security, you get a fingerprint sensor that works really well. It is fast and consistent.

Software

Mi 11X Pro ReviewMi 11X Pro Software

11X Pro runs on MIUI 12.5.1 on top of Android 11.

MIUI is definitely not the best Android skin out there. Some may like it and some might not like it. For me, it is average at best.

I didn’t find any software-related issues with the phone and it was a stable experience. With this version of MIUI, you get the new split-style control center. But, I prefer the standard one.

You can also customize the always-on display and notification effect to give the phone a more personal taste. Furthermore, it comes with other standard features like raise to wake and double-tap to wake.

Should You Buy Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro?

Yes! you should. This is a must-buy phone if you have a budget of around Rs. 65,000.
