AI-generated photo wins first in world-renowned photo competition

The German artist’s photo created by AI has received the most prestigious photography award in Sony World Photography’s creative category. But Boris Eldagsen, the German artist and photographer of the photo, refused to accept the award.


He refused to accept the award saying that he participated in this competition to check whether AI can distinguish photos of such competitions.

After the photo named The Electrician won the first place in the creative category of Sony World Photography, it has started to be criticized in the field of photography.

Although this photo was not captured by the camera, many people are not satisfied with the result because they managed to get the first place.

This photo of Eldagsen is a photo taken from the series called Pseudemnesia: Fake Memories, where the photos are compiled after giving linguistic input to the AI ​​and editing them 20 to 40 times.

According to Eldagsen, it is very important to bring technology that can distinguish photos created by AI for these kinds of competitions.
