Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will resign on July 5

Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos is set to resign on July 5. Bezos announced his resignation at the company’s annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday.

After his resignation, Bezos will be the executive chairman of Amazon. Andy Jesse, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), will take over as Amazon’s chief executive officer.

According to Bezos, since Amazon was founded on July 5, 27 years ago, this date is very emotional for him and he has decided to resign on that date.

He also said that he will focus on new products and initiatives as the executive chairman. Jesse has been with AWS’s founding team since 2003.

He has been the CEO of AWS since 2016. In the first three months of 2021, AWS earned 13.5 billion.

That’s 12 percent of Amazon’s total revenue. Amazon is currently receiving distrust from the United States and Europe, and this is one of the reasons why Jessie needs to address these issues as soon as she takes office.
