Around 16 billion grant from World Bank to Nepal, digital education will be strengthened

The World Bank is going to give a subsidy worth 120 million US dollars (about 16 billion rupees) to Nepal.

The World Bank Executive Board of Directors on Sunday decided to give a subsidy worth about 16 billion rupees to implement the main school education sector program of the Government of Nepal.

The grant will be used to address the damage caused by schools closed due to Covid-19, building suitable classrooms and strengthening digital learning. Apart from this, it is said that it will also be used in the scholarship program.

Faris Hadad Jervos, Country Director of the World Bank for Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka said that it will also support the vision of the Nepal government to increase the quality of education and equitable access to fulfill the ambition of the new federal state.
