Asus ROG Ally Price in Nepal

Asus ROG Ally Price in Nepal Specifications Launch

The handheld gaming console market is populated by the likes of Valve (Steam Deck), AYANEO, GPD, and more. And Asus—a veteran in the gaming phone and gaming laptop industry—is all set to join in on the fun with the “ROG Ally”. So let’s learn more about the Asus ROG Ally including its features, specs, availability, expected price in Nepal, and more.

Asus ROG Ally Overview:

The company first announced the ROG Ally on April 1 last week, which most of us dismissed as a simple April Fools’ joke. But Asus has recently confirmed that it is actually developing this product.

Design and Display

Measuring just 39mm thick and weighing 608 grams only, Asus ROG Ally is narrower, lighter, and thinner than the Steam Deck. But its smaller hump at the back doesn’t provide an ergonomically comfortable grip, says Dave2D.

In terms of the display, the ROG Ally has a 7″ FHD LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 16:9 aspect ratio. To compare, Steam Deck features a 7″ FHD LCD display too, but with a 60Hz refresh rate and a taller 16:10 aspect ratio.

Performance and Controls

Asus ROG Ally will be powered by a custom AMD APU (with Zen 4 CPU and RDNA3 graphics), we don’t exactly which one just yet. Asus also says the Ally will have double the performance versus Steam Deck. But that’s essentially pointless right now since we don’t know how much it’s going to cost yet. For reference, Valve’s Steam Deck starts at USD 399.

Users will have the option to plug in an external GPU via Asus XG mobile too. Furthermore, the Asus ROG Ally will be paired with up to 1TB SSD (M.2 2230). It will boot on Windows 11 out of the box.

In terms of controls, there are ABXY buttons on the right, one RGB joystick on each side, a D-pad on the left, two shoulder buttons on each side, a pair of back buttons, and a couple of buttons on each side near the screen to control UI.

Rest of the specs

Getting to I/O, Asus ROG Ally will come with a headphone jack, a USB-C, an XG mobile, and a micro SD slot. For biometrics, there is a fingerprint sensor on the top. It can also be used to switch between different Windows accounts.

On their preliminary testing, both Dave2D and Linus Tech Tips have reported that ROG Ally’s fans are quieter than that on the Steam Deck. Anyway, it’s got a stereo speaker setup for audio.

Asus ROG Ally Price in Nepal and Availability

Seeing how this handheld is currently in its pre-production state, there’s no official word on its price or availability just yet. But if you’re interested, you can sign up at Best Buy to get a notification whenever the device launches officially. But if the leaks are anything to go by, the Asus ROG Ally could end up starting at USD 600.
