Chinese battery maker to make electric vehicle power pack cobalt free
Chinese battery maker plans to make electric vehicle power packs cobalt-free. The transport sector contributes the most to the production of greenhouse gases.
We are moving towards electric vehicles for the protection of the environment, but the batteries of electric vehicles contain cobalt which is harmful to the environment. Cobalt mining also harms child labor and the environment, so the Chinese battery maker is planning to make electric vehicle power packs cobalt-free.
The name of the company is SVOLT. At the Chengdu Motor Show, SVOLT presented a power pack with a capacity of 82.5 kWh. At normal temperatures, the battery can run 373 miles on a single charge and can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in five seconds, the company said.
