With the aim of collaboration between the information technology industry and educational institutes, collaboration has started between the Digital Empowerment Society and the Central Department of CSIT of Tribhuvan University.

In the middle of a program on Wednesday, in the presence of Honorable Rekha Sharma, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Chairman of Digital Empowerment Society (DES) Rajendra Prasad Aryal and Head of Department of CSIT Central Department of Tribhuvan University, Savin Saymi, signed the memorandum of understanding.

According to the agreement, both organizations will cooperate by focusing on the problem of inequality between education and skills. Speaking at the program, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Sharma said that employment can be ensured for all the students who are produced according to the government's policy of studying while working.

'There cannot be qualitative changes in areas where information technology is not used, including new subjects of IT. In the IT sector we can compete globally with neighboring countries. And it is seen that it is possible,' Minister Sharma said.

The minister is of the opinion that this will help solve the concerns of how to employ students who have studied IT from our government schools and universities and how to sell them in the market.

'Students from all the subjects studied in Nepal should be able to make them practical. “IT can be important to prevent youths from going abroad now,” she said.

Likewise, Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Dr Shivala Bhusal said that it will help to take the subject of what is happening in the market together in the educational sector. He said, 'It will be helpful to expand the relationship between the market and educational institutions. It will help the students who study IT but are not able to use it in the market. More and more students can participate.'

Speaking at the program, DES President Rajendra Prasad Aryal said that efforts will be made to eliminate the differences between academic and industrial work in the field of information technology. Currently, there is a lot of difference between our ICT educational activities and the IT industry. As these two should cooperate with each other to advance the information technology sector of Nepal, this agreement will help the educational institutions to make their products efficient and sellable in the market, said Aryal, president of DES.

Likewise, Dean of the Central Department of CSIT of Tribhuvan University, Dr. Binil Aryal, said that the agreement on producing skilled manpower in Nepal and being able to consume it within the country is the first step.

'At present, there is a shortage of manpower in the IT sector in Nepal. On the one hand, the lack of skilled academic staff and on the other hand, the lack of manpower in the industry has become a problem. Everyone should work together to minimize it,' said Saimy, head of department of CSIT central department of Tribhuvan University.

Samir Thapa, head of Global DES, gave a presentation about this collaboration at the event. He gave information about why there is a difference between education and training. In addition to this, he said that the educational syllabus including IT in Nepal is not updated and due to late updates, there is no access to world-class skills and abilities. He also suggested to revise it and prepare a syllabus suitable for the global market and revise it regularly.

In the program, Balkrishna Subedi Sunil Pandey and others expressed their opinions about the purpose of this program and the opportunities it provides. Under the agreement, both institutions will cooperate with the government and the private sector, update the curriculum regularly, develop skills and collaborate on entrepreneurial education.
