Conference to connect youth with enterprise started, about four hundred young scientists participated

The ‘National National Conference on Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ organized by the National Youth Council to connect youth with research and entrepreneurship has started from today.

In today’s session, participants have been trained in three different research studies. Public health expert Dr. Shervahadur Punle Infectious Diseases, Dr. Asim Dhakal, Education and Employment, Dr. Bhanubhakta Dhakal has trained the youth on the feasibility study done in science education.

Inaugurating the program ahead of the training, Council Executive Vice President Madhav Prasad Dhungel said the conference was organized to link research in science and technology with youth entrepreneurship.

He said that the suggestions received from the conference would help the government in formulating science and technology policy. He said that the program was organized to make information technology and science students research oriented.

Executive Vice President Dhungel also informed that innovation centers would be set up in all the seven states to bring out the talents of the youth.

Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Ram Prasad Thapaliya said that they are preparing to run a program to attract students in science and technology subjects at the school level.

He said that the conference would help in science and technology education and science and technology should be linked with the society.

Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Prada. Dharmakanta Vanstola said that our education was weak in research and innovation, adding that the government should increase the budget for higher education.

Stating that the youth will be made self-employed if research and innovation work is done in higher education, the conference will provide an opportunity to the youth to create new entrepreneurs.

Vice Chancellor of Nepal Institute of Science and Technology Dr. Sunil Babu Shrestha said that science and technology should be linked towards solving the problems of the society.

He said that the country could achieve prosperity by mobilizing young manpower through science and technology.

Stating that return can be obtained by investing in science and technology sector, he said that inter-relationship should be established between the organizations working in science and technology sector.

Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University Dr. Bhola Thapa said that what is learned from science should be directed towards entrepreneurship. He said that it was necessary for the youth to combine their skills with productivity.

At the conference, the students studying at the postgraduate level will be informed about the research done by the young scientist. Baburam Dhungana informed.

Researchers will present working papers on four topics including science, technology, education and health at the conference. About 400 young scientists are participating in the conference which will be held till tomorrow.
