When you plan your trip to Disney World, you will always need a map since Disney World is almost 40 square miles.

The good news is that each area has its own map. One of the easiest park maps to read is the Magic Kingdom park because it is divided into themed sections.

Main Street USA

As you arrive at Magic Kingdom, the first area you will see is Main Street USA. This is the entrance to the park, so you will see ticket booths (be sure to buy discount tickets ahead of time) and turnstiles. As you enter, Main Street is full of sidewalk shops and places to grab a bite to eat.

The only ride in this part of the park is the Walt Disney World Railroad. Built between 1916 and 1928, the train is a traditional steam engine that takes you on a 20-minute, 1.5-mile journey around the park.

Tomorrowland

If you decide to walk to your next destination then use a Magic Kingdom guide map to Tomorrowland. This futuristic area is to the right at the end of Main Street. You will see the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant and must go through it to enter this section.

Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor

The first ride you will see is the Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor where monsters ahead of their time create laughs not scares. This is an audience-participating comedy show where Mike Wazowski cracks jokes about the people he sees. You may even get to talk to Mike and be a part of the act.

Astro Orbiter and Transit Authority People Mover

Then, look up at the Astro Orbiter rocket ships that fly over another Magic Kingdom classic: The Transit Authority People Mover. The People Mover is a slow-moving ride that takes you on a tour of Tomorrowland’s innovations. It runs on a magnetic track to take you inside rides like Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin for a bird’s eye view.

Space Mountain

After viewing Space Mountain from the People Mover, you may or may not be ready for the real thing. Space Mountain is one of three adult-sized roller coasters in the park. It is an enclosed rollercoaster where you sit in a rocket ship that blasts off into outer space.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Next, get the high score on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin by shooting aliens that pop up. Use your spinner controls to rotate as you move along through a neon world meant for only the bravest space rangers.

Tomorrowland Speedway

In between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland catch a ride on your own race car. This racetrack includes miniature gas-powered race cars. The vehicles stay in their lanes so even kids can explore their driving skills.

The Carousel of Progress

Lastly, whenever visiting Disney World you always need to appreciate the rides that have stood the test of time. The Carousel of Progress was Walt Disney’s own idea for a section of Disneyland that was later presented at the New York World’s Fair in 1964-65. It made its way to Magic Kingdom in 1975.

This animatronic display rotates through the generations of post-industrial revolution America using one family’s household as an example of progress.

Fantasyland

Your Disney vacation is a dream come true, which sometimes makes you feel like you are in a land of fantasy. That is what makes Fantasyland so enticing. You can enter into the worlds of some of your favorite Disney movies like Winnie the Pooh and the Little Mermaid.

Mad Tea Party

Your first stop in Fantasyland will have you a little out of sorts. The Mad Tea Party puts you inside the tea cups for a whirling good time. Be sure to keep your spinning to a minimum because these tea cups can go mad fast.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

This ride in your Disney World guide got so popular that they had to create another one right next to it. Now there are two twirling Dumbo rides that showcase this little elephant’s unique gift. However, you get to control how high Dumbo goes.

The Barnstormer

If your children are feeling adventurous then they can try out this tiny rollercoaster. Step aboard a stunt airplane to get silly with Goofy. The rollercoaster goes through the movements just as Goofy would during his famous barnyard-stunt show.

Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid

Take a dive under the sea with Ariel on your own clamshell. Navigate through Ariel’s home to visit Sebastian’s band, King Triton’s kingdom, and even the lair of the evil Ursula and her eel minions. Emerge from the sea as Ariel transforms into a human to be with Prince Eric.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Older kids will enjoy this fast ride through the gem mines of the Seven Dwarfs. The coaster resembles an old mining train that cuts through mountain caverns. Then it dips back down after retrieving its treasure.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Go on a search for Pooh’s honey but be sure to avoid getting bounced on by Tigger. Continue to follow this storybook of adventures by jumping from page to page, literally. But, be aware that you may encounter a windy day or two.

Cinderella’s Castle

Although the castle doesn’t have any rides, it is the main attraction and symbol of the Magic Kingdom. It is also a perfect spot to witness any special shows or be first in line to see the Festival of Fantasy Parade. And if you are lucky to get a reservation, dine at the finest restaurant in the park inside the castle: Cinderella’s Royal Table.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic

This 3D theater show depicts what would happen if Donald Duck got ahold of Mickey’s sorcerer wand. Needless to say, it doesn’t go well for Donald. Witness as worlds collide until Mickey steps in to fix it all.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Prepare to wait for this ride as it is one of this area’s favorites. When you do reach the front of the line, jump onto a pirate ship to navigate Never Never Land. The ship has been sprinkled with pixie dust so it is not your normal boat ride.

It’s a Small World

Another classic, It’s a Small World,” pays tribute to the diversity of the planet and the many cultures that visit Disney World. Travel by boat through several countries as you hear native languages sing the ride’s infamous song. The colorful display of traditions accompanies the tune.

Haunted Mansion

Take a break from your childhood fantasy to enter a world of ghouls and ghosts. This ride is a tour of a haunted mansion home to many types of scary entities. And, as the ride warns: beware of hitchhiking ghosts!

Frontierland

Step even further back in time to visit a place of river boats and jamborees. Frontierland is an area of excitement as you explore a land yet to be discovered. Be sure to visit hidden gems like Tom Sawyer’s Island by way of a wooden raft.

Splash Mountain

This log flume ride is a frontier favorite. Follow the story of Brer Rabbit as he gets into trouble. And, suffer the consequences of his mischief when he gets caught by Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear that has him plunge into a briar patch.

Thunder Mountain

A more grownup roller coaster has you climbing high mountain peaks. Then swoop down into glaciers and cavers on a train gone loose and this mountain ride isn’t for the weak-hearted.

Country Bear Jamboree

Sit down for an animatronic bear concert that will have you tapping along. The whole gang of bears emerge to tell their story of frontier heartache. Some bears even lower from the ceiling for a surprise solo.

Adventureland

Last on your journey is Adventureland. This area includes the Robinson Family Treehouse where you can walk through the family’s homemade furniture and jungle-inspired decor. Other rides take you through outdoor-inspired adventures.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Travel by boat through the Caribbean seas. Be on the lookout for pirates, even Captain Jack Sparrow. However, keep in mind that pirates like to pillage even small ships for treasures.

Jungle Cruise

This tribal boat ride takes you through dangerous jungles. Spot animatronic wildlife like elephants and crocodiles. The ride transforms into Jingle Cruise during the holidays.

Enchanted Tiki Room

Sing along with your favorite tropical feathered friends. These birds were one of the first animatronics introduced at Disneyland in 1963. Their show is a classic not to be missed.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Jump onboard the magic carpet to spin around Genie’s lamp. This ride allows you to control your height so it is perfect for any age. You can also move your carpet front and back to make it even more adventurous.
