Exynos 1380 Architecture, Specifications, Availability

Samsung Exynos 1380 announced

While Samsung didn’t come up with its own flagship mobile chip this year, the company has now unveiled its latest midrange chipset. The new Exynos 1380 will first appear in the upcoming Galaxy A54 and is the successor to last year’s Exynos 1280. Let’s take an in-depth look at the new Exynos 1380 chip.

Exynos 1380 Overview:

Architecture

Like its predecessor, the Exynos 1380 is built on Samsung’s 5nm process. It has an octa-core CPU, with four Cortex-A78 (@2.4 GHz) and four Cortex-A55 (@2.0 GHz) cores. Samsung says the AI Engine on this chip has “an enhanced NPU” that can handle up to 4.9TOPS (trillion operations per second) for a smarter experience such as advanced language recognition for voice assistance. For graphics, there is Arm’s Mali-G68 MP5 GPU clocked at 950 MHz. It also supports upto 144Hz FHD+ display.

200MP camera

Moving on, this chipset supports up to 200MP resolution cameras. You can shoot photos in single camera mode at 200MP, or at 64MP with zero shutter lag. It can even take photos from three 16MP sensors at once. As for videos, the Exynos 1380 allows you to record up to 4K 30fps. This chip also supports 10-bit HEVC (H.265) and AVC (H.264) video encoding and decoding.
