Facebook, Google and Twitter will shut down services in Hong Kong if the new privacy policy is approved

Facebook, Google and Twitter have threatened not to offer their services after Hong Kong said it would change its privacy policy. Tech companies have previously been at odds with the Hong Kong government, and the new privacy policy has raised tensions between the two sides.

The Wall Street Journal has said the three companies will not provide their services in Hong Kong if data protection laws are enforced. Tech companies are concerned that social media workers could face criminal investigations or face legal charges if a user accidentally shares their personal information online.

Companies say the law could remove freedom of speech. But the Hong Kong government has said the law is important to the country and will not affect freedom of speech. This law may be approved by the end of the current year.
