Federal research on Tesla’s autopilot feature

Tesla’s autopilot feature is under federal investigation after a series of accidents. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation into Tesla’s autopilot system. Since 2018, Tesla’s autopilot has had 11 accidents in which 17 people were injured and one died.

Many such accidents have been found to have taken place at night. All of these vehicles were found to be under either autopilot or traffic conscious cruise control. This research will be done under the models Y, X, S and Three from 2014 to 2021.

It covers about 765,000 Tesla vehicles. The crashes occurred in Massachusetts, Michigan and Arizona. There were also three accidents in ODIs in California.
