The government has requested that social media should not be used to promote activities that disrupt peace and security. The Council of Ministers meeting held on Tuesday appealed to everyone not to post baseless things on social media, and not to harm the reputation, self-esteem, privacy and character of a person.
Respecting the fundamental rights provided by the constitution, including freedom of thought and expression, social media operators and users shall not interfere with Nepal’s sovereignty, geographical integrity, national security, national unity, independence, self-respect or national interest or the harmonious relations between the federal units in the context of making the increased use of social media positive and dignified. The government has requested all concerned not to do any act of hatred, malice or contempt on the basis of class, caste, religion, regional, communal and so on and not to do any activities that disturb the harmony between different castes, castes or sects.
In addition, when using social media, it is prohibited to publish or broadcast any content that is baseless, hurts a person’s reputation, self-esteem, privacy and character, encourages caste discrimination, untouchability, disregards labor, encourages crime, promotes breach of peace and security, or in accordance with prevailing laws. It has also been requested not to act like broadcasting or transmitting content or publishing or broadcasting content that is against public morals and ethics.
