Infinix NOW rumored to be the company’s first flagship phone

Infinix is a Hong-Kong based smartphone maker that is known for budget and mid-range offerings. However, that could change soon as the company prepares to go big this year. According to the leaks, Infinix is looking to launch its first flagship smartphone. Backing the claims are renders of an unreleased phone called Infinx NOW and a 165W charger to go with it.

Infinix NOW Rumors Roundup:

Premium Design

The latest leaks come from XDA Developers. The leaked render reveals an unannounced Infinix smartphone with a design nothing like its current devices. It has a massive “NOW” branding at the back, which we assume is a hint at the moniker of the phone. It almost covers the whole panel.

The style is something we have only seen in phones from Chinese brands like Realme, Xiaomi, and such. And so far, people are divided about such over-the-top brandings.

Moving on, there is a left-aligned punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The bezels are minimal. We are assuming it is an AMOLED panel all around, given its curve and the in-display fingerprint scanner.

At the back, there is a rectangular camera module, which encloses a triple camera setup. The primary sensor is huge and protrudes further from the module, as seen from the side. You can notice the rectangular periscope sensor towards the bottom left (rectangle-shaped).

Infinix NOW has a single speaker grille at the bottom. It is placed together with a Type-C port, SIM card slot, and a microphone. Similarly, volume and power buttons are on the right.

160W charging

What makes this interesting is that the same source had leaked Infinix’s 160W Ultra Flash Charger a week before. The leaked image of the charger has a phone in the background. If you look closely, it resembles Infinix NOW’s renders. Even the camera module looks the same.

If the leak indeed turns out to be true, the 160W Ultra Flash Charge will make Infinix NOW the fastest charging smartphone in the market. Currently, commercial phones max out at 120W (iQOO 7 Chinese Variant and Mi 10 Ultra). While Xiaomi and Oppo have demoed even faster charging solutions, they are not available in the market yet.

Infinix NOW: Will it ever come to market?

Infinix NOW is a massive shift from what the company has been doing to date. Thus, we have our doubts when we say this device might not make its way to the market anytime soon, despite the moniker. It could be a concept phone, which dismisses any hope of launch altogether.

Brands often do this to offer a preview of what they are capable of. Mi Mix Alpha and OnePlus Concept One are some of the popular examples.

What do you think of Infinix NOW? Will you even consider buying flagship smartphones from brands like Infinix if it launches one? Do let us know your opinion in the comments section.
