Information technology is a field full of potential, it should create equal opportunities for all

The Covid-19 pandemic has made it clear that access to advanced networks and digital technologies is not just a luxury, but a necessity of modern society.

It has been felt that if we can develop and establish access to information technology at every level of the society in the future while dealing with the covid epidemic, it will greatly help in the management of the epidemic. It will also contribute significantly to the overall economic and social development of the country.

Therefore, it seems that not only the state, but also associations, universities and experts working in technology should give priority to making the technology accessible to the general public and increase investment. ICT offers unprecedented opportunities to effectively fight poverty in developing countries.

With the development of technology, the digital divide is also increasing. We must work to reduce the digital divide. ICT should create equal opportunities for all.

The Digital Nepal Framework prepared and advanced in 2019 envisages rapid development of multifaceted issues of the state with the help of information technology. Under which the activities in accordance with the framework have been progressed in various fields.

Digital Nepal Framework is also a big plan, which aims to transform the society into a digital society. It will ensure access to modern technology to all citizens and it can be used to improve the quality of life of the people as a whole.

This framework includes policies, strategies and programs to promote digital literacy, expand digital infrastructure and encourage innovation in the ICT sector. Our goal is to create new opportunities and achieve the economic development of the country by making the best use of technology.

In addition to the Digital Nepal Framework, I would also like to emphasize the importance of research in the ICT sector. Research and innovation are the backbone of development. It plays an important role in the progress of every sector.

Through research we can discover new technologies, identify new opportunities and solve complex problems. We must invest in research and encourage collaboration between industry, academia and government.

We should always work to expand our boundaries through research. We hope this conference will provide an excellent opportunity for us to learn from each other, share best practices, and identify innovative solutions to the challenges we face.

The field of information technology is a field with great potential and I believe that Nepal can get maximum benefit from it. We have reached the capacity to produce thousands of IT skilled manpower every year.

Internet access is also increasing significantly. Therefore, if foreign jobs can be outsourced to Nepal while creating employment opportunities in Nepal, it will help the economy of Nepal.

I believe that with our right policies, strategies and investments, Nepal can become a hub of innovation and a leader in the ICT sector.

As the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, I will make every effort to promote this sector, and I also appeal to the concerned agencies and experts to come with concrete plans for the development of this sector.

Finally, I would like to reiterate Nepal’s commitment to work with our partners in all sectors to advance the goals set by APAAN, drive digital transformation and create a brighter future for all.
