ISPAN said that the Electricity Authority should take the responsibility if the internet is blocked in Bharatpur

Internet Service Providers Association of Nepal (ISPAN) has said that internet service may be disrupted in Bharatpur and other areas.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Aspan said there was a strong possibility of internet service being disrupted in Bharatpur (including other areas).

Aspan has stated that the entire Nepal Electricity Authority should take the responsibility if the internet service is disrupted in Bharatpur.

A statement issued by Aspan said, “Recently, employees of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Bharatpur Distribution Center in different parts of the country, especially in Bharatpur, have been looting telecommunication equipment, cutting internet wires (fiber), obstructing internet maintenance and disrupting internet services.” And we would like to inform you that you have been carrying out activities in Bharatpur in violation of the Telecommunications Act 2053, such as intentionally disrupting internet services.

According to Aspan, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Bharatpur Distribution Center has not returned the looted telecommunication equipment and has disrupted the internet service due to various activities.

It is also mentioned in the release that the Electricity Authority is holding high level discussions with the objective of not having any effect on the fare after increasing the fare too much.

However, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has carried out such activities without taking into account the situation of Digital Nepal, Covid 19 and the impact on the general consumers, said Aspan. Aspan has also informed that if the internet service is disrupted, it will be due to the Nepal Electricity Authority.
