Join Code for Change’s national hackathon and make a difference!

Code for Change, which has been contributing to the field of technology through various programs for the past 6 years, is going to organize a national level program this year like last year.

Since its inception, it has been supporting the students studying technology in the country by conducting various workshops, webinars and hackathons in their personal and professional skills development.

Its leadership and executive team, which changes year after year, are always doing something new and useful, and through various programs, they are sharing technology knowledge with non-technical people even in the corners of the country.

Acknowledging the enthusiastic participation of the students in last year’s codefest and its plan being worthwhile to some extent, it is planning to organize a national level hackathon by improving it this year. Codefest is the largest IT hackathon in Nepal, which aims to provide IT students with an exposure opportunity to demonstrate practical applications of the latest technologies they have learned.

Codefest 2023 will try to highlight the problems in various parts of the society and find solutions to ensure positive effects on the society. The program is informed that the challenges will be centered around the 7 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Krishna Prasad Pokhrel, the project head of the organizing organization Code for Change informed that the projects will be selected based on points 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 13 and 16 of the sustainable development goals.

This time, a problem-solving project based on Good Health and Well Being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Industry Innovation and Infrastructure, Smart Cities, Climate Action, and Peace Justice and Strong Institutions will be selected. After the project is selected, the best teams will be given opportunities in different places with special prizes by holding a competition.

The winning team of Codefest 2023 will get 50,000 rupees and other prizes, while the first runner-up will get 25,000 and the second runner-up will get 15,000 rupees.

In addition, the top 3 teams will receive free hosting, while all participating teams will be given a 30 percent discount on hosting services. A good idea will also be provided with necessary arrangements for startup.

The preliminary preparation of Codefest Hackathon has started and the registration process has progressed, then all kinds of students can form their teams and register in it. A minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 4 people will be allowed to participate in a team. The participants should be studying bachelor in any college of Nepal.

The team registration fee is 2000 rupees per team and after the team arrives in Kathmandu, the organizer will arrange food and accommodation for all the participants during the Hackathon.

The hackathon will be held in all the seven provinces of Nepal from September 21 to 28, while the competition of 7 teams selected from the provinces is planned to be held in Kathmandu, the capital of the country, on October 6, 7 and 8.
