‘Mero Shiksha’: An Essential Digital Learning Platform for Students in Grades 5 to 12

Recently, there has been a shift in student preferences from reading books to watching videos, thanks to the digitization of educational materials. As society becomes increasingly digital, digital devices have become easily accessible to everyone, including students. The education sector has also embraced digital platforms, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when many students were unable to attend physical schools. This led to the emergence of numerous startups in the field of digital education, including one called “My Education.”

The idea for My Education, a learning app aimed at providing convenient access to educational resources for students, was conceived around four years ago by Deepin Vishwakarma and a group of nine individuals. Deepin Vishwakarma, the CEO of My Education, faced numerous challenges during the early stages of the company. In fact, they initially offered their services for free to students and gradually transitioned to selling their products to schools. Prior to starting My Education, some of the team members were running the Budhanilkanth Education Service Tuition Platform. However, they wanted to do something new in the education field, which led to the birth of My Education.

Vishwakarma himself had studied abroad but returned to Nepal with the intention of making a difference in his own country. He believed that it was important to apply the knowledge gained from studying abroad in Nepal. My Education aims to prioritize what students learn rather than what they read, acting as an assistant to both students and teachers.

My Education is a digital learning platform that was established around four years ago. It offers students access to interactive study materials, practice materials, video libraries, and other digital resources. The platform can be accessed through both a website and a mobile app, and it provides teaching materials in both Nepali and English. Students can find textbooks for grades 5 to 12, allowing them to read and watch subjects of their interest. Additionally, there is an assessment feature that allows students to test their understanding of the material. The platform also offers a question and answer section where students can seek clarification on various topics. If students find it challenging to write their questions, they can even ask by submitting photos. My Education aims to stand out from other digital learning platforms by offering unique courses, styles, features, and affordable fees.

Despite facing challenges, My Education has continued to grow and has collaborated with various schools and the Kathmandu Metropolis. They have received positive feedback from government teachers and students, which has encouraged the platform to expand its offerings. My Education is even planning to add a public service preparation class to its repertoire. The platform is determined to reach every village, and they are considering offline facilities for areas with limited internet access. Moreover, they are developing features that will help students prepare for the Public Service Commission exams.

In terms of fees, My Education charges different amounts based on the student’s grade level. The fees are kept reasonable to ensure affordability for students. For example, the annual fee for classes 5 and 6 is 550 rupees, while for class 7 it is 1080 rupees. The fees increase gradually for higher grade levels, with class 12 and A level courses being charged 3,240 rupees, and a bridge course costing 2,700 rupees.

My Education is committed to improving and facilitating the educational experience in Nepal by providing quality and equitable education to all students. The company plans to introduce additional features to its app in the near future.
