According to Sharma, Nepalese citizens in India can get an Indian SIM card based on their passport, citizenship, voter ID card or identity card issued by the embassy.
Earlier, India had refused to issue SIM cards to Nepali citizens citing technical reasons. But at the request of the embassy, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Communications are ready to give SIM cards to Nepalis in India.
Earlier, Nepalis were suffering from not getting a SIM card while traveling or working in India. Now that suffering is going to end.
