Now even the students who have studied BCA in Trivim will get the same recognition as science and technology in government service

Kathmandu. The problem of Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) students of Tribhuvan University not getting recognition like science and technology in the field of government service has been solved. The problem was solved when the Office of the Chancellor of the University issued a circular to all relevant government agencies to advertise BCA pass students.

Earlier, the students who passed BCA in 2079 from the University were deprived from applying for the position of Assistant Director (Information Technology) opened by the National Bank last December. In addition, they were not able to apply for information technology officers issued by the Agricultural Development Bank, Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Nepal Telecom and other agencies.

Now even the BCA passed students will be included in the advertisement issued by the government agencies. An official from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University also confirmed this.

According to him, there will be no problem for BCA students to apply for information technology posts when the advertisement opens in the coming days. However, he said that he could not say anything about the advertisements whose application had been closed.

He said that only the concerned body can take a decision in the case of students who are interested in applying in the last advertisement but are affected due to the notification.

Similarly, apart from BCA, the University has requested the concerned bodies to include Bachelor of Education in Information Technology (BEd ICT), Bachelor of Information, Communication, Technology Education (BICTE) courses while advertising. Along with this, it is said that the students who have studied these courses will not have any problem in applying for computer related officer level advertisements such as computer officer, information technology officer, information management system officer.

On the other hand, the aggrieved students have said that because information technology advertisements will not open for a few years, they should be given a chance even if only BCA students are deprived of advertisements. Sujan Kafle of Nepalgunj, who suffered from this problem, demanded that the BCA students should be given another opportunity to participate in the competition even as the money was deducted while applying. “The money has also been cut when we applied. But in the end we were not able to apply,” he said in a conversation with Tekpana. “It may take a few years before the advertisement opens again for that position. Similarly, there are many students who are willing to compete. In that case, it is also fair to give a chance to the victimized students once.”
