NVIDIA first announced three new graphics cards under the GeForce RTX 30 series back in September 2021. And after almost three months, the company has launched the fourth member of the lineup. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Overview:
3060 Ti is the first Ti graphics card in the RTX 30 series. And it is a toned-down version of the RTX 3070. In fact, the two cards look the same and sport the same two slots, and two fans design.
Performance
At the core, the RTX 3060 Ti is powered by GA104 GPU, like the one in the RTX 3070, but with fewer SM units. It has 38 SM units compared to 3070’s 46. Similarly, it features 4864 CUDA cores, 152 Tensor cores, 38 RT cores, 152 textured units, and 80 ROPs.
All of these numbers are below what the RTX 3070 offers. The RTX 3060 Ti has a base clock speed of 1410MHz and a boost clock speed of 1665MHz. On the other hand, both cards come with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM with 14Gbps clock speed. They also share the same 256-bit memory lane that results in the 448GB/s memory bandwidth.
In real life, the new RTX 3060 Ti is faster than the RTX 2080 SUPER. According to tests conducted within NVIDIA, the RTX 3060 Ti offered 40% better performance on average than the 2080 SUPER.
Other features
Like the rest of the RTX 30 family, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is not all about performance. Users can enjoy real-time ray tracing thanks to 38 RT cores. Similarly, it also supports features like NVIDIA DLSSNVIDIA Reflex, and NVIDIA Broadcast.
DLSS is NVIDIA’s upscaling technology, which the company claims supports up to 25 games as of now. The company has also promised that around a dozen games will have support for latency management Reflex technology. Similarly, the NVIDIA Broadcast feature makes this a good option for streamers on a budget.
