Personal phone tapping is not acceptable: Dr. Shekhar Koirala


Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala said that tapping personal phones is not acceptable.

Leader Koirala objected to the government’s draft bill to amend and unify the law related to telecommunications, which provides that authorized investigative bodies of the Nepalese government can record the conversations of any person.

Dr. questioned the intention of the government to continue this work, which was stopped due to protests in the past. Koirala says.

In a democracy, the act of tapping personal phones on one or the other pretext is not acceptable. The intention of the government has been raised by taking forward this work which was stopped due to protests in the past,’ Koirala wrote on social media, ‘Parties, human rights activists, civil society and even the press world should pay attention to such actions related to national security.’
