Poco is in the midst of refreshing its smartphone lineup. The company held a launch event on February 6 where it will unveil the new X5 series. There are two new smartphones in the event: a vanilla X5 and a Pro model. In this article, we will be discussing the vanilla Poco X5 in more detail, including its specs, features, expected price, and availability in Nepal.
Poco X5 5G Overview:
The X series fills in the void between the entry-level C and the flagship F series in Poco’s hierarchy. Poco didn’t release a vanilla model last year and resorted to just X4 Pro last year. However, this year it brought the vanilla X5 to replace the two-year-old Poco X3.
Performance
One of the biggest changes between X3 and X5 lies on the inside. While the X3 packed the Snapdragon 732G, the new X5 comes with the Snapdragon 695 chip. This put the X5 5G in the same league as last year’s X4 Pro 5G in terms of performance.
Talking about the Snapdragon 695, it is a 6nm chip with an integrated 5G modem. It brings two Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz with six 1.7GHz Cortex-A55 performance cores backing them.
Moreover, the Adreno 619 GPU on the Snapdragon 695 is a higher-clocked version of the Adreno 618 on the 732G. The memory option for the smartphone includes up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
Camera
Except for the chipset, Poco X5 5G is said to replicate the specifications of the recently launched Redmi Note 12 5G.
This is true for the cameras as the X5 has a 48MP triple camera setup—similar to its Redmi Note counterpart. The main camera utilizes a 48MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. Accompanying it is an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP auxiliary sensor. Over on the front, the phone features a 13MP selfie camera inside the punch-hole cutout.
Display and Design
In terms of design, Poco X5 5G has a circular cutout at the top center of the display. It’s a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen as the X4 Pro 5G, and boasts an FHD resolution with refresh rate and touch sampling rates of 120Hz and 240Hz, respectively.
Talking about the design, the smartphone has a flat-edge design with rounded corners. There’s also a black envelope covering the camera module which has been a staple of Poco’s midrange phone now.

Moving on, the smartphone gets its juice from a 5000mAh cell with supports 33W fast charging. The biometric option includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The smartphone is available in Green, Blue, and Black colors.

The smartphone is launched in Europe for a starting price of EUR 249 for the 6/128GB variant. The brand is also offering a EUR 50 discount as an early bird offer. We expect the price of Poco X5 5G to start at NPR 37,000 when it launches in Nepal.
