Reject all proposals to have Nepal’s own satellite, now proceed with the new process

Nepal Telecom Authority has rejected Nepal’s proposal to have its own satellite. NEA issued a notice on Wednesday dismissing all the proposals and procurement process.

NEA co-spokesperson Achutananda Mishra said that the proposals of all the four companies were rejected as they were not responsive.
The Telecommunication Authority of Nepal (TAN) had last November called for a new proposal to regulate the establishment of satellites and set policy on security, trade and operation structure.

As per the NEA’s proposal, nine companies of the country had submitted their letter of intent last December. NEA had sought financial proposal from five of the companies submitting letters of intent.

Of the five companies called for proposals, four submitted financial proposals. These include KPMG Insurance and Consulting Services LLP of India, London Economics Limited of the United Kingdom, Euro Consult of France and Esther Tail International of the United Arab Emirates.

NEA has decided to reject all the proposals and procurement process as per the Public Procurement Act 2063 BS. Mishra said that now it will move forward according to the new procedure.
