Researchers have developed a device that takes 3D images of cells

Researchers have retrofitted the microscope to create a real-time 3D image of a cell. Scientists at UT Southwestern have developed a simple and affordable device that captures photos from many angles and can be retrofitted under a lab microscope.

It has two rotating mirrors in front of the camera of the microscope, which gives 100 times faster results than other times when changing from 2D to 3D.

This process now requires hundreds of photos of a specimen to be uploaded to the image stock of a graphic software program. It is then computed into multiple viewing perspectives.

Even in very powerful computers, these two steps take a lot of time, but using optical equipment has been found to save a lot of time. This finding is likely to help later tests.
