Ride sharing was recognized by the government of Nepal as an industry and service

Kathmandu. For the first time, the government has recognized ride sharing as an industry. The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply has recognized the ride sharing service by publishing a notice in the gazette on January 18.

According to the ministry, by amending the Industrial Business Act, 2076, ride sharing has been recognized as a service industry.

According to this, by using the authority given by section 65 of the Act, by adding serial number 66 to Schedule 8 of the Act, provision has been made regarding ride sharing services.

Along with this, it is said that the government can create and implement guidelines, procedures or standards as needed to simplify the operations related to the registration and regulation of the industry.

Since ride sharing was not recognized by the industry, there were various legal hurdles in this sector. Now the legal way to register the industry and operate the business is open.
