Samsung unveiled their new A-series phones via the “Galaxy Awesome Unpacked” event held on March 17. Among three new phones, Samsung Galaxy A72 is the most expensive offering.

Samsung Galaxy A72 price in Nepal is Rs. 51,999 (6/128GB) and Rs. 56,999 (8/256GB). It will be available for purchase in Nepal from 21 March 2021.

Samsung A72 comes as an update to the Samsung Galaxy A71. So, let’s see what it has on offer.

Samsung Galaxy A72 Overview

Design

Samsung Galaxy A72 gets a design overhaul just like the A52. Samsung has gone with a matte finish on the rear and the camera module is a mix of the S21 and Note 20 series.

On the front, it gets a punch hole right in the middle of the screen and an in-display optical fingerprint scanner.

To make it more premium, Samsung has included IP67 dust/water resistance on the A72. With that said, A72 is thick than the A71 (8.4mm > 7.7mm) and is heavier at 203g.

It is available in 4 colors: Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Violet, Awesome Blue.

Display

Samsung Galaxy A72 gets a 6.7 inches FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. However, it doesn’t come with variable refresh rate technology found on high-end Samsung phones.

Samsung claims max brightness of 800 nits under HBM (High Brightness Mode) and is SGS certified against harmful blue light emission as well.

Hardware

Samsung Galaxy A72 is equipped with a Snapdragon 720G chipset. Snapdragon 720G has an Octa-core (2×2.3 GHz Kryo 465 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 465 Silver) CPU and Adreno 618 GPU.

For memory, it comes in two configurations: 6GB RAM/128GB Storage and 8GB RAM/256GB Storage. And fun fact, they have included a micro SD slot that can be used to expand storage up to 1TB.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G

Snapdragon 720G is a good mid-range chipset but we would have liked a bit more powerful chipset on a premium mid-range device. While the use of Snapdragon 720G on the A52 is justifiable. They should have gone for a better chipset on the A72.

Except that, A72 comes with Dolby-Atmos compliant stereo speaker setup.

Camera

In terms of the Camera, Samsung has brought some meaningful upgrades to the A72. Now, it enjoys the main sensor with OIS and a telephoto zoom lens with 3x optical zoom.

On the rear, it has a 64MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with 123º FOV, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 5MP macro lens.

On the front, there’s a 32MP selfie camera. Samsung A72 can capture up to 4k 30fps videos from the rear and front camera.

The telephoto lens has 3x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom, and it supports OIS as well. So, it’s a pretty good setup for the price.

Battery & OS

Compared to Samsung A71, Samsung Galaxy A72 gets a bigger 5000mAh battery along with 25W fast charging. But it’s pretty light when compared to the likes of Samsung M51 and F62.

Nonetheless, Samsung claims that the A72 can provide two days of battery life. Furthermore, A72 runs on One UI 3.1 on top of Android 11. Also, Samsung’s renewed OS upgrade policy will provide it 3 years of OS and 4 years of a security upgrade.
