Samsung is yet to launch a 5G phone under the M-series lineup. However, that could soon change as the company is preparing to launch Galaxy M42 5G. It is going to be the first phone to have 5G connectivity in the lineup that is mainly known for its big batteries. Let’s take a look at all the information that we have regarding Samsung Galaxy M42 5G including rumored specs, price, and availability.
Samsung Galaxy M42 5G rumors roundup:
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy M42 5G will be the successor to the M40 that launched two years ago. According to the reports, Samsung had to cancel the M41 last year as the display intended for the phone failed to meet the required standard.
Moving to the M42 5G, the device has been spotted in multiple certifications sites. It has already gone through BIS, WiFi Alliance, and Bluetooth SIG certifications as MS-M426B. A support page for a handset SM-M426B/DS recently went live on Samsung India’s official site hinting that its launch is nearing soon.
Similar to the A42 5G
The model number of the M42 5G is similar to that of the A42 5G (SM-A426B) that was announced last year. As a result, the two phones could share some similarities in terms of design and specifications. For instance, the M42 5G is expected to pack in Snapdragon 750G just like the A42 5G. It’s a 5G chipset that debuted last year with the Redmi 9 Pro 5G. The phone will come with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The device will ship with Android 11 with One UI 3.1 out-of-the-box. Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G will feature a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ panel with an Infinity-U notch. A42 5G featured an in-display fingerprint scanner but we are not sure if Samsung will include it in the M42 5G.
The two phones could pack different camera hardware, though. The M42 5G is rumored to feature a quad-camera setup with a 64MP primary shooter. Also, the selfie camera is said to be bumped to 32MP from 20MP in the A42 5G. M42 5G will also feature a bigger 6,000mAh battery instead of the 5,000mAh on the A42 5G.
