Sony Xperia 1 III leaks suggest a show-stopping smartphone

Sony’s Xperia Pro garnered a lot of attention for its “professional camera companion” stature. And now, Sony is gearing up to launch Xperia 1 III. The new leak suggests that the device will have a knockout display and a very intriguing camera set. Although the Xperia series hasn’t done well in the sales charts, Sony’s lineup still has a loyal fan following.

What’s the big hint?

The latest rumors from Zackbucks, a prominent user in the Chinese social network platform Weibo shared that Sony will stick to the conventional naming pattern with the new device. It will be available in the market and branded as Sony Xperia 1 III. Sony uses the “Mark” naming scheme for its phones, similar to its camera, so “1 Mark 3 (III)” would represent the third of its line.

Sony can introduce a new periscope camera to capture high-quality images from a distance. Although the Xperia 1 II only had a 3x telephoto lens, Sony’s decision to have a periscope camera sounds similar to Huawei and Samsung. Aside from the excellent zoom capability, Sony intends to use a 64MP wide-angle main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor.

4K OLED Display

It’s not surprising that the device has an OLED screen, as its predecessor also had one.

The key feature though is a 4K resolution display with the standard Sony cinematic aspect ratio of 21:9. Furthermore, the device may have a 6.5-inch panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz for a smooth scrolling experience.

Performance

Under the hood, the device packs a top-flight Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset which should ensure a glitch-free experience. More than certainly, the unit would be available in two memory configurations: one with 12GB RAM and 128GB storage and another with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
