Telecom’s FTTH: Distribution of 64,000 new lines in 4 months, expanding to 65 districts this fiscal year

Nepal Telecom has distributed FTTH (Fiber to the Home) service, which can provide telephone, internet and television services from a single fiber, to a total of more than 172,000 customers in 54 districts of the country till July 12.

In 2075 BS, this service was made available to only 1 thousand 738 customers, in 2076, this service was made available to 30 thousand 879 customers and in 2077, this service was made available to 1 lakh 7 thousand 701 customers. Similarly, 64 thousand 299 new lines have been distributed in 4 months till April, May, June and July.

Nepal Telecom has been providing only voice and data services under FTTH service and has also been providing IP TV services under NT TV brand since December 3, 2010.

Initially available only in Kathmandu Valley and Banepa, NT TV service is now available in Bharatpur, Hetauda, ​​Lahan, Tandi, Dhulikhel, Nagarkot, Pokhara, Sauraha, Butbal, Bardaghat, Baglung, Toulihawa, Sandhikharka, Bhairahawa, Palpa, Sisuwa, Tamghas, Damauli, Dhading. It has also expanded to places including Parasi, Mangalapur and Siraha.

Originally used for high-speed, reliable Internet service, FTTH has introduced fiber as an alternative to copper wire for voice telephones, and the concept of triple play has been implemented since television services became available from the same fiber. The company plans to expand its FTTH service to 65 districts across the country this fiscal year
