Kathmandu. The government is going to increase the minimum age for obtaining a driver's license to three years. In the final draft of the amendment to the Vehicle and Transport Act, the minimum age for obtaining a driver's license is two years for two-wheelers and three-wheelers, three years for four-wheelers and two years for larger vehicles.

Sources in the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management have said that the draft bill will be sent to the Cabinet for approval in a few days. After that, the Bill will go to the Federal Parliament for discussion and after its passage, it will be issued as an Act after being approved by the President.

At present, there is a provision that drivers of two-wheelers and three-wheelers should be 16 years old, 18 years old for four-wheelers and 21 years old for big vehicles. But in the bill prepared for the amendment of the Act, it is proposed that the age of 18 years should be completed for two-wheelers and three-wheelers.

According to the provision contained in the draft bill, commercial vehicle driver's license has been arranged for public vehicle drivers. To get this kind of license, one should have passed eight classes.
