The world’s first electric cargo ship is set to sail this year. Yara International aims to have an electric cargo ship in Norway by the end of 2021. Named Yara Berkland, the ship will sail from Heroya to Rebekah.

It will be operated by only three remote controls. Yara has been developing the concept of the ship since 2017 and planned to launch it in 2020, but it was delayed due to the epidemic. This is not the first unmanned ship but the first electric unmanned ship.

Its high speed is 13 knots. It runs on a 900 kW propulsion system. He also said that it will be environment friendly as it is an electric cargo ship.
