Rakuten Viber has introduced a new feature called Chat Folders. Viber has introduced the Chat Folders feature to help users quickly find specific conversations and manage communications.

According to Viber, the chat folders designed keeping in mind the convenience of the users will organize the chat folders by easily classifying them based on topics, groups or people.

In this new feature, users can create five custom folders. It will also automatically provide an “All” tab that includes all other chats.

For example, users can create separate folders for work, friends, family or favorites. The same chat can be kept in multiple folders and an unlimited number of chats can be added.

Users can also easily categorize and streamline their communications by renaming folders or marking all chats within folders as read. For example, by placing all colleagues' chats in a folder labeled 'work', users can easily manage projects and tasks or coordinate a birthday gift for another colleague during the work week.

A numbered “Unread” badge at the top of each folder will indicate the number of unread chats within that folder. All one-on-one chats, group chats, channels and communities can be added to these custom folders.

Some exclusions also apply, such as hidden chats, messages received from Viber Pay, business and customer interactions cannot be included in these folders. Ofir Eyal, CEO of Rakuten Viber, said this latest feature will help improve conversations and save time to secure meaningful connections.

The Folders feature has started rolling out globally. In the next few months, Rakuten will be available to all users with Viber version 22.0 and above.

Users with more than 10 chats will get this feature as soon as they open the app. Activating folders can be done by going to More on the main chat screen, selecting Manage Folders and adding chats.
