Vivo X90 Series Rumors, Leaks Launch

In the buildup to the official unveiling of the upcoming flagship lineup, Vivo has shared interesting camera details from the X60 series. The company also confirmed that the X90 series will house a new primary camera with significant improvements. In this article, we will be discussing all the major camera specifications confirmed by the company, along with other leaks and rumors surrounding the Vivo X90 series.

Vivo X90 Series: Everything we know so far

Advanced Camera System

Let’s start with cameras first, as they will be the main highlight of the Vivo X90 Pro+ series. As per the company, the X90 series will bring major improvements in portrait and night photography. For this, the company has been working closely with its imaging partner Zeiss.

The camera setup on the Vivo X60 series consists of different software and hardware components, each with its own function. First is the advanced Zeiss lens with special coatings to control the noises in images. Then there is the True Color Restoration Engine that determines the correct white balance.

This time around, there is also an Ultra-Clear Quality Engine which, like its name suggests, brings out the best possible clarity in the image. It does so by recovering optical information lost because of optical imperfection. There is even a multi-frame model for periscope lenses that further refines the image’s dynamic range using the ambient light sensor.

Vivo X90 Series Camera Features

Improved Portraits and Night Photography

Moving on, Vivo X90 series will be able to detect the subject’s face and pose using 103 different points while shooting portraits. Then these points are used to separate the subject and background so that each can be processed separately.

To improve night photography, Vivo has doubled the ISO up to 102,400 on the X90 series. Vivo believes this will allow users to take low-light shots without a tripod or a long exposure. Likewise, the new image sensor on the Vivo X90 series has 77% higher sensitivity than the custom ISOCELL GNV sensor on the X80 series.

New In-house ISP

Moreover, the X90 series could debut with Vivo’s next in-house Image Signal Processing. The new chip replacing the Alive V1 boasts performance of up to 16.5 TOPS per watt and a built-in memory. The latter is said to reduce latency and power consumption.

Leaked Camera Hardware

While Vivo has not confirmed anything, a recent leak suggests that the mystery image sensor on the X90 series could be Sony IMX989. It’s the same 1-inch sensor that we saw earlier on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

It will be accompanied by a 64MP telephoto camera, which will use OmniVision OV64B sensor. The portrait sensor will make use of the unannounced Sony IMX758. That being said, there is no information about the fourth camera which will have an ultrawide lens.

Dolby Vision recording is also set to debut on the X90 series, although it has been a feature in Apple’s lineup since the iPhone 12.

Rest of the specifications

Vivo X90 Pro+, being the top of the lineup, will pack the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. The vanilla X90 and X90 Pro will come with the Dimensity 9200 instead. Vivo X90 Pro+ will pack a 4,700mAh battery and will support 80W charging. All three devices under the Vivo X90 Pro+ will ship with Android 13 with OriginOS 3.0 on top.

Vivo X90 Series Launch Date (Expected)

While it’s not official yet, Vivo could announce the Vivo X90 series in December, along with the other two devices in the series.
