Women in Data Conference organized by Shikwal Foundation concluded

The conference on Women in Data, organized by Shikwal Foundation, has been completed on Saturday. The conference, which was held at Hotel Hyatt Place, was conducted throughout the day on Saturday on various issues of women.

More than 200 people participated in the event, and discussed topics such as women’s entrepreneurship, women’s rights in a male-dominated society, problems and challenges, women in data, and the role of data for women’s empowerment.

In the same program, Nahsla Joshi, Co-Founder of Women in Data Steering Committee on Digital and Financial Literacy to Women Entrepreneurs, J. Michel Maraj, Senior Business Intelligence Manager of GigPro on the Value of Data Visualization, Munni Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Statistics Officer of National Statistics Office on Women in Data from the Public Sector Perspective and Future of Data There was a presentation by Elina Brewer, Head of Strategic Partnerships at 757 Collab.

There were 2 panel discussions in the program. The first discussion was on the role of government, civil society and education in women’s entrepreneurship, with the speakers being Jyoti Devkota, Professor of Mathematics Department of Kathmandu University, Niraj Khanal, Co-Founder of Entraprerana, Stella Tamang, Founder of National Tribal Women’s Federation of Nepal and Maheshwari Bista, Head of Women’s Development Division of Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality. Similarly, another session was held on the topic of The Role of Gender Data for Combating the Male Deflation. As a speaker, the executive director of Women Lead Nepal Hima Bishta, researcher Dr. Pranab Dahal, Peter Rai, the presenter of Epiwan TV and Sarita Lamichhane, the founder of Prarthana Nepal, were present. This session was facilitated by Shrishti Shrestha, Associates Product Manager of Coderus.

According to Shikwal Foundation, the one-day conference was interactive. The conference focused on women’s issues was eagerly listened to by the participants. The speakers emphasized that the existing problems in the society should be overcome and such programs related to women’s empowerment should be organized all over the country.

Shiqal Foundation organized the Data Conference in collaboration with UK Aid, Data for Developers and The Asia Foundation.
