Human Rights Violations in Darjeeling
Human rights have been violating in Darjeeling by the West Bengal government of India led CM Mamta Banerjee. The Gorkhas of Darjeeling or Gorkhas Janamukti Morcha (GJM) were peacefully protesting against the forceful imposition of Bengali languages in the Hills areas of Darjeeling, Kalingpong, Kharsang and all the areas. Those areas were the part of Gorkha or Nepal even before the British Government of India. Darjeeling had raised this issue 80 years ago and it was quite silent
Those areas were the part of Gorkha or Nepal even before the British Government of India. Darjeeling had raised this issue of identity 80 years ago and it was a quite silent demand of ‘Gorkhaland’. It was suppressed by some certain paperwork but the long-planned couldn’t be hidden when the Banerjee imposed Bengali over the Nepali language, and in the areas where people don’t share the similar culture, geography or language and not even the eating habits.
The Internet which has become a basic day to day need has been banned. Media and TV channels coverage was blocked. Republic TV has filed a case for the live covering of Gorkhaland movement. Police brutally kicked women on the chest. The police are also illegally entering our supporters’ houses and are torturing Gorkhaland supporters.
