CCTV cameras installed at 138 places on the East-West Highway

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of the Far Western Province has installed CCTV cameras on the East-West Highway from Chisapani to Gaddachauki and from Attaria to the Trinagar border.

CCTV cameras have been installed at a cost of Rs. 15.1 million under the program of the Ministry of Fiscal Year 2077/78.

CCTV cameras have been installed to help in controlling criminal activities, crime investigation and reducing traffic jams and road accidents.

According to Ministry spokesperson Mohan Raj Joshi, 138 CCTV cameras have been installed in the sensitive areas of the road. The connected CCTV cameras have seven PTZ (rotating) and 120 other cameras.

Spokesperson Joshi said that CCTV cameras have been installed in the highway area where many people gather, at intersections, intersections, areas with public property and government offices.

Cables have been laid in an area of ​​108.56 km for camera connection. There are 12 stations in the area where CCTV cameras are connected.

“The work of connecting the cameras has been completed,” said ministry spokesperson Joshi. “An agreement is being worked with the Nepal Electricity Authority for power supply.” He said that the test is being done after connecting the camera. With the help of CCTV cameras, human security, security of public and private property and crime control will help to maintain peace and security.

It is also said that CCTV cameras installed on the roads will be very fruitful to reduce accidents, solve traffic problems and curb theft.

“CCTV helps to discourage violations of the road rules,” said spokesperson Joshi.
