Homework started to give shares to telecom customers

The government has announced to sell 22 percent shares of Nepal Telecom to the customers using landline, mobile and internet services through the budget of the coming Fiscal Year 2078/79 BS and has started homework for its implementation.

By mid-December, people using Nepal Telecom’s landline, mobile and internet services will be able to participate in the share purchase process in the budget.

The financial institutions are busy with homework to decide the details of the company’s share distribution process and share price by mid-October.

According to the officials of the Ministry of Finance, Communications and Information Technology, Nepal Telecom, their preparations have been made to implement the program in the budget.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Dir Gharaj Mainali, told the campaign that the Ministry of Finance has started the necessary homework to implement the program with new thinking, though such a program has not been introduced in the past to give share ownership to those who use the service.

“The money has been used by the service recipients to become a company and the necessary preparations have been made to implement the new model of ownership of the service recipients,” he said.

As there has been a study on giving shares to the customers before, now this program is being implemented by formulating procedures.

Procedures are being formulated in coordination with the Ministry of Telecom, Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Finance. “The finance ministry is preparing to take the lead,” said Mainali. This news is in today’s economic campaign daily.
