iQOO 8 and 8 Pro Launched with Snapdragon 888 Plus and 120W recharge

Vivo revealed, on Tuesday, its new flagship smartphone device under the brand iQOO. The series — consisting of iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro — boasts the most powerful hardware of the current generation and screens with detachable specifications that should take the new devices to a respectable position in the premium flagship category.

With this announcement, the Chinese manufacturer expands its portfolio of advanced smartphones that will soon be incoporated in the Vivo X70 series. Below, check out the details of the iQOO 8 series.

The base variant of this series – iQoo 8 features a 6.56-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and aspect ratio of 19.8:9 and refresh rate of 120 Hz, taking advantage of 92.76% of the front area. There is a hole in the upper center of the display dedicated to the selfie camera with 16 MP resolution with f/2.45 lens aperture.

Also in terms of photography, the iQOO 8 boasts a triple camera set represented by the Sony IMX598 – 48 MP main sensor with f/1.79 lens aperture; a 13 MP sensor for the wide-angle lens with f/2.2 lens aperture; and a 13 MP sensor for portrait mode with f/2.46 lens aperture.

The flagship device is powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset, an octa-core that delivers the Adreno 660 GPU, with options of up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

To power this hardware, there is a 4,350 mAh battery that supports ultra-fast 120 watt charging. The manufacturer states that this power is sufficient to provide a full charge in just 18 minutes.

Other specifications include the presence of the OriginOS interface based on Android 11,Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and usb-c charging.

iQOO 8 Pro

Moving onto the high-end variant of the series – iQoo 8 Pro, it comes with a 6.78-inch screen with 2K resolution (1,440 x 3,200 pixels) and features Samsung’s AMOLED E5 technology. The display also offers 120 Hz refresh rates and takes advantage of 92.2% of the front area. There is a hole-punch dedicated to the selfie camera of resolution and aperture identical to the base model.

The main cameras also take advantage of this model, which offers a triple camera set represented by the 50 MP Sony IMX766V main sensor with f/1.75 lens aperture and gimbal stabilization; a 48 MP sensor for the wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture; and a 16 MP sensor for the depth lens with f/2.23 aperture.

The iQOO 8 Pro uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 Plus, the manufacturer’s most advanced and current chipset that also integrates the Adreno 660 GPU. The RAM settings are identical, but this variant will be marketed with up to 512 GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage and will not have the 128 GB option.

The device is powered by a battery with an increased capacity of 4,500 mAh that supports fast charging of 120 watts (wired) and 50 watts with the wireless charger.
