Nepal Telecom has prepared the modality of the FiveG test, finalizing the authority

Nepal Telecom has prepared a modality for the FiveG test and submitted it to the Nepal Telecommunication Authority for approval. The government has prepared the modality as per the instructions given to Telecom to test FiveG.

NEA chairperson Purushottam Khanal said that the modalities prepared for the FiveG test were being studied. “The modalities prepared by Telecom have been received,” Khanal told ICT News. “We are studying it.” We will finalize it in a few days. ‘ He said that after finalizing the study of modality, he will proceed for testing.

A study committee was formed to test the FiveG by Telecom. The committee has already prepared modalities on how to conduct the FiveG test.

“The committee has decided how to conduct the test, at what frequency, on which sites, how to do it, which application to run,” said Dilli Adhikari, managing director of Nepal Telecom. “We have submitted the report prepared by the committee to the authority.” He said that the test work will move forward after getting the approval from NEA.

The infrastructure for the FiveG test should also be ready. For example, 10G optical link should be available up to BTS. Space and power system should be available in the tower. Everyone should be ready to run any application for FiveG. Also, the core side should be prepared.

FiveG’s Active Antenna Unit (AAU) is required. This technology can be brought only after the frequency is finalized, the official said. He said that other infrastructures are being prepared by the telco.

NEA is preparing to use 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands for the FiveG test.

In India too, a few days ago, the band was assigned to various service providers for the FiveG test. Accordingly, the 700 MHz, 3.3-3.6 GHz and 24.25-28.5 GHz bands are being used in India for the FiveG test.

The Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) says below 30 GHz is not good for Fiji.

At the international level, the official says that there are three bands for FiveG. There are lower bands below one GHz, mid bands above one GHz and high bands above 24 GHz.

In the case of Nepal, the combination of lower-band and mid-band can be effective in running FiveG, the official said. No matter how many FiveG systems are running now, their spectrum is 3400 MHz band and 2600 MHz band. 700 MHz is very low.

In the case of Nepal, using FiveG in the 700, 342600 MHz band can be more effective, says the official.

NEA has also put forward an action plan to expand FiveG across the country in four years. The Government of Nepal has already given its approval for its testing and the NEA has put forward an action plan in the context of formulating policies and regulations related to it.

NEA will start testing of FiveG this year and will implement the initial phase of FiveG in 2022 and 2023. NEA plans to expand FiveG across the country by 2025 and provide FiveG services to about 70 percent of the population by 2028.

NEA says that the business will start in 2022 with a one-year trial period. The authority plans to use it commercially in major cities of the country that year. NEA plans to use FiveG commercially in major cities of the country.
