Samsung Galaxy F02s and F12 Specs, Features, Launch Date
Samsung is looking to double up the number of devices in its F-series lineup. The product pages for the Galaxy F02s and F12 have gone live in Flipkart. In this post, we will be taking a look at all the confirmed specs and features of the Samsung Galaxy F02s and F12 along with the respective launch dates.
Samsung Galaxy F02s
Samsung Galaxy F02s is the inferior of the two. It comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ panel with an Infinity-V notch. The phone is powered by the entry-level Snapdragon 450 chipset. It’s an octa-core chipset with a clock speed of up to 1.8GHz. Fueling the device is a massive 5,000mAh battery.
Similarly, the phone has a triple camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor. The specs of the remaining camera have not been disclosed but given the budget origin of the device, we expect two auxiliary 2MP sensors.
Samsung Galaxy F12
On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy F12 features a similar 6.5-inch HD+ panel but it comes with support for a 90Hz refresh rate. At the back, we get to see an F62-like rear panel. The left-aligned rectangular camera bump houses the quad-camera setup. The LED flash resides just outside the bump.
Samsung is promoting the ISOCELL GM2 primary sensor in the F12 as a “true 48MP camera”. We expect the device to have an 8MP ultrawide sensor along with two 2MP sensors.
The phone is powered by Exynos 850 processor. It is Samsung’s in-house chipset built on an 8nm process. Fueling the device is a 6,000mAh battery.
Yet another rebrand?
Though Samsung has not provided the complete specs of the two phones, there is a high chance that F02s and F12 will be rebrands of M02s and M12, respectively. Both M and F-series phones are sold in the online market in India but the former is Amazon-exclusive while the latter is Flipkart-exclusive. Lately, it has been a trend among smartphone manufacturers to rebrand a device only to release it as a platform-exclusive device.
Samsung in the global smartphone market
Budget-oriented devices like F12 and F02s will be key if Samsung is to maintain its dominance in the global smartphone market. Samsung shipped over 24 million devices in February, more than any other smartphone brand. It made it the number one brand ahead of Apple which shipped 23 million devices.
The two companies enjoyed a 26% and a 74% year-on-year increase in shipments in the same period.
