KATHMANDU – Sandeep Lamichhane, one of the valued members of the Nepali National Cricket (NCC) team has been now associated with Delhi Daredevils, an Indian Cricket Club. Lamichhane has been now trending in the country and abroad.

17-year old Nepalese leg-spinner Sandip is being bombarded with congratulations messages over Social media right after Delhi Daredevils bought in second days’ Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction. He has been associated with INR 20 Lakhs.

Last week, he was at number 276 out of 578 players name in auction list. He’s base auction price was INR 20 Lakhs.

With this, Sandeep has become the first Nepali player to play in IPL. Associated with the National level team, Lamichhane has gained popularity at very early age. The Delhi Daredevils tweets after associating Sandeep as

The rising Nepalese cricketer Lamichhane became centered on worldwide popularity after he took a hat-trick against Ireland two years ago in Under 19 Wordcup Cricket.

Lamichhane’s international debut match was the 2016 U-19 World Cup cricket held in Bangladesh whereas he started in national team on September 2016 game against Nambia.

Sandeep has also been compared to the former Australian cricketer Shane Watson. He started gaining popularity as soon as he was listed at number 276 out of 578 players in the PL auction. The entire cricket lovers were just waiting for the auction day and if he will be able to get into IPL.

After he was listed in IPL auction, another great Australian cricketer Michael Clarke who always admired Lamichhane tweets.

Soon after the very tweet, Sandeep gained the next level of popularity. Clarke who was once the former captain of Australian cricket team was inspired with Sandeep’s performance during the a tournament they both were in same team held at HongKong. At that time, he compared Sandeep with Shane Watson. Clarke invited him to Australia and during his stay he got a chance to play in the local teams there too.

During the Talent Hunt event, Pubudu Dashanayak, then coach of the Nepalese national cricket team impressed by the performance of the 14 years old Lamichhane called him to Kathmandu from Chitwan. Soon, he reached Kathmandu and started playing he begane showing his magic in cricket. In this way Lamichhane gained popularity in no time.

Sandeep and the Nepali Cricket Team are now at UAE preparing for Division 2 game. After the practice match, they will be heading to Nambia.

Sandeep learned his first bat and ball in India as his father works in Indian Railways Servies.
