Understanding between Non-Resident Nepali Association and Sagun, agreement to cooperate in welfare projects

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Non-Resident Nepali Association and Sagun, a social media based e-commerce company headquartered in the United States.

In the MoU, NRNA lauded Sagun’s role in promoting Nepal and the Nepali Diaspora globally through social media-based e-commerce.

Similarly, NRNA has expressed confidence that Sagun will help in encouraging the new generation of start-up companies started by expatriate Nepalis.

The Non-Resident Nepali Association and Sagun have also agreed to explore the possibility of cooperating in welfare activities.

Kumar Pant, Central President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, said that the Non-Resident Nepali Association, which is spread across 82 countries, has been supporting the latest ideas and projects started by the expatriate Nepalis since its inception.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Sagun, a company that is expanding its services in Nepal, India and other countries by establishing itself as a trusted company in the highly competitive IT sector like the United States,” Pant said.

He also said that the association is working to bring the skills, technology and capital of the Nepali diaspora through programs like the World Knowledge Conference.

Similarly, Govind Giri, founder of Sagun, expressed happiness over the cooperation with the Non-Resident Nepali Association, a common organization of Nepalis spread all over the world.

“Currently, about 65 lakh users are using Sagun app and more than 4,500 investors from 65 countries have joined us,” he said.

Giri also said that cooperation with the Non-Resident Nepali Association would be beneficial for both sides.

Launched in 2015, Sagun has offices in the United States, Nepal and India. Sagun users can share their stories, photos and videos and chat with their friends.

They can also use the ‘smart coins’ they earn to buy gifts for family and friends.
