Digital system at Nepalgunj Airport


A digital system for weather information has been put into operation at Nepalgunj Airport in Banke. The system has been put into operation in cooperation with the Civil Aviation Authority and the Water and Meteorological Department to be used by many airports in the west.

Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson Jagannath Niraula said that a digital system has been put into operation for weather information before flights to various destinations from Nepalgunj.

According to him, weather information of 20 places including Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, Surkhet, Shantipur, Tikapur, Salle, Lamhi can be obtained through this system.

Spokesman Niraula said, “Now it will be easier to get weather information before flying to Surkhet, Jumla, Dolpa and other destinations.”

At Nepalgunj airport, the authority is going to extend another 2,500 meters of runway. At a cost of about three billion rupees, the airport is being expanded with the terminal building for passenger facilities. Currently, the length of the runway is 1,500 meters.
