Apan Conference, which was held for the first time in Nepal, was completed, more than 400 delegates from 29 countries participated

The 55th conference of the Asia Pacific Advance Network (APAN), which started on February 29, has been completed. The five-day conference was held in Kathmandu for the first time in Nepal.

The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, officially opened the conference on February 30th, while the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Dr. Dharmakant Baskota was present.

In the program, workshops, conferences, trainings and sessions were organized for 5 days. More than 400 physical participants from 29 countries participated in the conference and more than 100 participated online.

Rajan Parajuli, executive director of Nepal Research and Education Network (NREN), said that the participants focused on various areas of information technology implementation such as disaster management, agricultural modernization, human health and medical technology, access to scientific data, internet security, etc.

In addition, on behalf of Nepal, there was a presentation by climate change experts and Nepalese mountaineers regarding the impact of climate change on the Himalayan region and the role of information technology and scientific research to minimize it.

In the program, 79 sessions of 90-90 minutes were conducted. According to Parajuli, the interaction with the representatives of different countries through the program will further strengthen the scientific collaborations that Nepali researchers and educational institutions are currently doing with the world community.

Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN), established in collaboration with National Research and Education Network (National Research and Education Network) of 17 countries in the Asia Pacific region, has been conducting scientific research and collaboration in various fields of information and communication technology.

For the past 25 years, APAN has been organizing two international conferences every year in various countries of the Asia Pacific region in collaboration with the national research and educational network institutions of the Asia Pacific region and in collaboration with the scientific research, innovation and various universities of different countries of the world. This year it was organized in Nepal.

APAN Conference in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Nepal Telecom Authority, Nepal Telecom, Ruijie Networks, APNIC, Internet Society, [email protected], was organized by Nepal Research and Education Network (NREN) with the support of e-Hualu and other organizations. Internet bandwidth required for the conference was provided by Worldlink and Subisu.
