Apple has just unveiled the latest iteration of its entry-level iPad. The 10th gen iPad brings a lot of changes, including the design, chip upgrade, and transition from lightning to USB-C port. Design and Display
Like the iPad mini last year, the entry-level iPad has gone through a design overhaul. Apple has done away with the home button for an all-screen look.
As a result, you now get a bigger 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display instead of the 10.2-inch Retina panel on its predecessor. Apple has increased the screen resolution to 2360 x 1640 pixels, but the pixel density remains the same at 264 PPI. Under the hood, the standard iPad (2022) gets a power bump in the form of the Apple Bionic A14. This makes the new iPad 10th Gen perform 20% faster in CPU and 10% faster in GPU tasks compared to the last year’s iPad (9th Gen) with the A13 chip. Likewise, machine learning gets a boost of up to 80% because of the new neural engine.
The 2022 iteration of the iPad (10th Gen) is available in 64GB and 256GB memory variants. You can further choose between Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + 5G variants.
Camera and Audio
The new 10th Gen iPad 10.9 (2022) now has its camera on the land, which is a first for any iPad. It uses a 12MP ultrawide sensor with a 122° field of view. Then there is the Center Stage that automatically finds the subject and keeps it in frame with automatic pans and zooms. There is a new 12MP camera sensor on the back with support for 4K videos and 240-fps slo-mo.
Like the front camera, the stereo speakers are also in landscape orientation. You also get dual microphones to get through video calls and online meetings.
