Apple to shut down Dark Sky in 2022

Apple plans to shut down Dark Sky’s iOS app, API and website by the end of 2022. Apple bought Dark Sky in 2020, and experts at the time suspected that Apple would shut down Dark Sky’s iOS app and web tools.

Earlier, Apple had planned to close in 2021. With less than a year to go, the company urges Dark Sky’s iOS app, API and website users to decide whether to switch to another weather forecast app or website.

Apple also shut down Dark Sky’s Android app in August last year. Dark Sky helps provide detailed weather forecasts, especially on iOS 14. In iOS 15, it is also expected to rain in an hour.
