Community basic schools should choose an internet provider in coordination with the local level

Nepal Telecommunication Authority has asked community basic schools to coordinate with the local level if they have to choose an internet service provider.

Issuing a notice, the authority informed that if the community schools have to choose the service provider by themselves, they should choose the service provider in agreement with the local level under the rule of public procurement regulations.

The notification of the authority states, ‘If the community basic schools have to choose a service provider by themselves, there is also a provision that the service provider should be informed to the relevant local level after reaching an agreement with the local level and under the rule of the public procurement regulations, so this notification has been published for the information of all concerned.’

Under the program to connect and operate broadband internet services by mobilizing rural telecommunication development fund in all community basic schools of 66 districts except Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dolakha, Sindhuli, Ramechhap and Okhaldung Kathmandu Valley, which were heavily affected by the earthquake, an agreement with the local levels- The letter has been signed and implemented.

According to the procedure related to providing access to broadband internet through the local level by using the rural telecommunication development fund issued by the authority, the related local levels should choose the service provider that has received the internet service license from the authority in a frugal, transparent and competitive manner under the rule of the public procurement regulations.

After that, after connecting the service to the community basic schools, there is a provision to provide connection expenses and up to two half of the fee through the local level.
